Robin Tunney Joins Pokerroom for WSOP

Robin Tunney, who plays attorney Veronica Donovan on the hit show Prison Break, has become the latest member to join Team PokerRoom.com, a group of over one hundred up-and-coming poker players who represent PokerRoom.com in some of the worlds foremost poker tournaments. Tunney earned her spot on the team as well as the $10,500 buy-in for the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event when she won the PokerRoom.com Celebrity Poker Showdown to benefit YouthAIDS last month in California.

Among the 60 plus players headed to the tournament, Tunney is the third woman to qualify for Team PokerRoom.com. Players range from Billy Pero, a Boston-based electrician and second place finisher in the annual Become a Poker Pro Tournament, to Jim Davenport, a 26-year old University of Southern California graduate from Newport Beach, California. Davenport became this years professional poker player in March 2006 after receiving an endorsement package from PokerRoom.com valued at $250,000.

Throughout the year, PokerRoom.com players duke it out in online qualifying matches for available team spots at major land-based tournaments. Team PokerRoom.com encourages healthy competition between members, but its mission is to provide a forum for players to build friendships and learn from each other as they compare strategies and experiences.

With the addition of Tunney, the team is ready to take on the more than 7,000 players scheduled to play at the World Series of Poker Main Event. The series will take place from July 28 to August 10, 2006, at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Each WSOP spot is worth $ 13,500 and includes travel, hotel, tournament entry fee and special activities with the rest of Team PokerRoom.com.

We are exited that Robin Tunney will be playing with Team PokerRoom.com for the WSOP Main Event, said PokerRoom.com spokesperson Glenn Cademartori. We look forward to seeing Robins acting skills and poker face in action during the tournament. She is a talented actress and enthusiastic poker player who will be in great company with the other team members. Our team approach to the WSOP represents PokerRoom.coms overall position as the perfect forum for players to strengthen their strategy, skill and determination for big poker tournaments.
