Main Event eliminates More Players

Almost three hours into the Sunday night session of the Main Event and the field was dramatically thinned down to 104 poker players. The Main Event started Tuesday with over 8,000 participants, broken into 4 groups. After a few days, there were 2 groups and now, almost a week into the event and we are down to under a dozen tables.

Jamie Gold has maintained the chip lead with an impressive 3,907,000 chips. David Simon was the eliminated in 115th place, well into the money but not enough to make the next day’s event. Other notable outs were Mark Shanta, eliminated with pocket aces beaten by a straight on the turn and Bryan Micon of the Micon System.

Of the online poker rooms that sent players, Bodogpoker seems to be holding the strongest. Although it is worth mentioning that Fulltilt Poker is hanging in there and a few players from Poker Stars are making it, as well.

All in all, this is turning out just as the past few years have, a very exciting main event at the World Series of Poker.

One room that hasn’t made a huge showing at the WSOP is Partypoker. Partypoker is, however, the top online poker room for ring games. Check out our Partypoker Bonus Code and get up to $100 added to your player account.
