Pub Poker League Names First of Players

LITTLETON, Colorado — (PRESS RELEASE) — The National Pub Poker League (NPPL), announced today its first player who qualified for the $1 Million Mansion Poker Dome Challenge in Las Vegas.

This weekend, Jerry Schrader, 36, a locksmith from Woodbridge, Va., won the second round of the Challenge and took home $50,000, bringing his total winnings to $75,000. Now Schrader has secured his chance to compete for the Poker Dome Challenge $1 Million Grand Prize. Schrader, along with NPPL member Stan Poczatek of Woodbridge, Va., were both eligible to play in the $50,000 qualifier tournaments, but only Schrader was able to defeat five other contestants to take home the prize. The Poker Dome Challenge is a televised series on Fox Sports Net every Sunday.

Schrader started the journey to Las Vegas by winning a free-to-enter NPPL tournament at his local pub, which qualified him for an NPPL exclusive free-roll tournament online at MANSIONPoker.net. He defeated the other pub winners and earned free airfare, plush accommodations, limo transfer, and a seat in the Poker Dome Challenge. Using the skills he learned risk-free by playing at East Coast Billiards in Woodbridge, Va., Schrader made the most of his opportunity and knocked off the five other players to win $25,000. He also qualified for the $50,000 winner’s game that includes a seat to the $1 million final tournament.

Schrader, who became the third qualifier for the $1 million tournament, became short stacked in the $50,000 tournament and developed a different style of play.

“Once I got short stacked, my only strategy was to double up,” said Schrader. “I did it six times and here I am with a giant check for $50,000.”

On the final hand of the tournament, Schrader, with the chip lead, chose to only call the blind with his Ace King. Marlon Delinois, the last opponent, saw an opportunity and went all-in with Ace 6. A king came on the flop and Delinois was eliminated.

Each week the NPPL Hosts an online tournament specifically for their league members, with the prize being a Full Tilt Dome Challenge Seat.

Winners will be flown to Las Vegas to compete in one of 36 televised qualifiers, played live at the MANSIONPoker.net Poker Dome and broadcasted by Fox Sports Network. The 36 winners will collect a cash prize of $25,000 and a seat at one of six televised semi-finals for $50,000.

National Pub Poker League Members that win the Poker Dome Seat also receive:

-Round Trip Air Transportation to Las Vegas

-Limo transfers

-VIP hotel accommodations.

-$500 Casino Credit

-Welcome dinner and Introduction to the Poker Dome (Friday Night)

The NPPL, the world’s largest pub poker organization, hosts free Texas Hold’Em tournaments nightly in local taverns and bars. The nightly winners compete for free and on-line every other Saturday. All members can compete on opposite Saturdays for a chance to win in Las Vegas. Seats to the Poker Dome are only available to NPPL members, and no other pub poker organization offers this opportunity to its players.
