Full Tilt Poker, Stats Show ‘Loose’ Play & High-Stakes Omaha Increase

According to a recently released market analysis, there are a few trends taking place in the online poker industry that may be of great import to today’s players. The top stories were the incredible increase in high stakes Pot Limit Omaha games, followed by increasingly loose competition; both of which pointed to the popular online poker room, Full Tilt Poker.

It would seem that largest pots to change hands in the month of May came out of Full Tilt Poker, Pot Limit Omaha tables. Reports show that a multitude of pots exceeded the $100,000 mark, including one of Full Tilt Poker’s highest pots ever, at about $428,000. Among this incredible action, Full Tilt Pro David Benyamine alone pocketed more than $1.6 million in May of 2008. The $428k pot went to budding poker star Tom “durrr” Dwan, earning much of that pot by thrashing his Austrian opponent Markus Golser.

The assertion of looser competition at the tables comes from the analysis of average pot sizes. When these numbers rise, it directly confirms that more players are staying in the pot, or playing a “loose” game. Reports show that Full Tilt Poker topped the charts in this category with the highest percentage increase (up 21% to $41.50), though Pacific Poker stood out with the highest actual average pot size (up 12% to $51.20).
