Shift in Congress May Be Good News for Poker

Now that election day has come and gone in America, a shifting of the mantle of power has occurred in the Congress, with many seats once occupied by Republicans now vacated in favor of their Democrat replacements. Some poker rooms are still taking US players, while other rooms have closed American Poker Players accounts.

While there are no guarantees that this move in the power structure will directly aid the current plight of online poker, it is widely believed that it was the Republicans who pushed through the Unlawful Gambling Online Enforcement Act which was eventually signed into law on Oct 13. With a new set of lawmakers in the House and Senate, including many first timers, it could bode well for the future of online poker in America.

One of the top online poker rooms, bodogpoker, still accepts American poker players.
