2x Payout For PokerStars Sunday Million Winner TimDawg888

The PokerStar Sunday Million has been one of the most popular weekly online poker events for a very long time, but this weekend was like none other. “TimDawg888” wiped out the largest field of players ever seen in the PokerStars.com Sunday Million and earned himself a massive reward of $297,801 for his skilled efforts.

What would create such a stir and double the normal 1st place prize, you may ask? The PokerStars 2x promotion spanning the entire month of July. PokerStars is randomly doubling just about anything you could imagine at the online poker room through the month, from points rewards to cash game pots and yes – even last Sunday’s $1,000,000 GP was multiplied to a whopping $2,000,000.

As one might expect, this drew nearly the double entries as well. The PokerStars Sunday 2x Million attracted the attention of 14,181 participants. With so many entries, it’s not surprising that it took nearly 10 hours to complete the online poker tournament. In typical PokerStars fashion, the guaranteed prize pool was trumped by the excessive participation from members of the online poker room; so high in fact that the reward nearly peaked at $3 million, but fell just short at $2,836,200.

As it came down to the final table, you can simply imagine the excitement of the remaining 9, knowing the least they could walk away with is in excess of $20,000. When heads-up play finally came down to “TimDawg888” and “xanja”, both had to be pretty pleased with themselves, as the worst possible outcome at this point was a $198k paycheck.

In the end, it was “TimDawg888” who made history by taking down the massive PokerStars 2x Sunday Million, earning the 1st place prize of $297,801. In 2nd place for $198,534 was “xanja”. Overall, the top 2,142 finishers each received their share of the $2.8 million prize pool.
